These are real experiences, in the words of the veterans who lived them. We’re grateful to every veteran who shared their story — and we hope it helps you picture what your own path with VUB could look like.
My tutor for my on-line statistics was absolutely amazing. We met in person, on-line etc. He helped me get through one of the toughest classes of my career. He brought things down to my level.
The VUB staff was extremely helpful with a special kind of compassion for me. I feel their work shines through to reach veterans!
I found Veterans Upward Bound to be extremely helpful in honing my academic skills as well as preparing me emotionally to attend college at an age where most attendees are of younger generations. VUB has and continues to help me navigate the pressures and deadlines that I am up against as a veteran and an adult learner.
Veterans Upward Bound helped me connect with the college and supported me through the whole process of obtaining my degree. They contacted me consistently to ensure that I didn’t have any barriers to success. The program was easy to navigate, and they made me feel like I truly mattered.
VUB helped me get back up to speed in studies to prepare for college life after leaving the military and getting my mindset to focus on education and studies once more. As I was going through school, VUB was their if I had questions or needed help, it was a nice experience.
Veterans Upward Bound steered me in the right direction and gave me the confidence to succeed.
VUB gave me the confidence to pursue higher education by letting me take refresher classes with them.
My experience was great. The instructor did a great job of teaching, where I understood English and writing much better than I have in the past.
I was very pleased with the staff I worked with and how welcoming they were. I want more veterans to be aware of this program!
I have had an excellent experience with VUB. Without VUB I would have likely not attended college again this late in life. VUB provided a prep program which helped me prepare for my first semester back to school after almost 20 years. Additionally, the staff introduced me to other veteran organizations on campus which informed me of a tuition waiver for my course of study.
